The Grace of God Angered Jonah

When God saw what they did, how they turned from their evil way, God relented of the disaster that he had said he would do to them, and he did not do it. But it displeased Jonah exceedingly, and he was angry. (Jonah 3:10-4:1 ESV)

Unmerited Grace

For God saved us and called us to live a holy life. He did this, not because we deserved it, but because that was his plan from before the beginning of time--to show us his grace through Christ Jesus. (2 Timothy 1:9 NLT)

Together with Christ Jesus He also raised us up and seated us in the heavens, so that in the coming ages He might display the immeasurable riches of His grace through His kindness to us in Christ Jesus. (Ephesians 2:6-7 HCSB)

Joseph Prince stressed a lot on grace. Unmerited grace. I have no problem with unmerited grace. I believe in it. I love his slogans "law demands, grace supplies", "believe right, live right". I believe it should be preached because so many people find it difficult to accept. But I take issue with Joseph Prince on when he preached that this unmerited grace will bring us worldly success, health and wealth. Why be so concern about health when we are going to die? Why be so concern about wealth when we cannot bring a single cent with us when we die?

And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: (Hebrews 9:27 KJV)
And said, Naked came I out of my mother's womb, and naked shall I return thither: (Job 1:21 KJV)
As he came forth of his mother's womb, naked shall he return to go as he came, and shall take nothing of his labour, which he may carry away in his hand. (Ecclesiastes 5:15 KJV)
For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out. (1 Timothy 6:7 KJV)

Interesting Questions That A Muslim Asked On Atonement

Watched a debate on Youtube. A  Muslim asked a Christian these questions and the Christian was not able to answer properly.

For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: (1 Peter 3:18 KJV)
Muslim: Is this justice? An innocent person is sent to be punished for the sins of the guilty.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16 KJV)
Muslim: If the Father loves the world and loves the Son, is it not selfish of Him to send the Son, instead of sending Himself?

Reconciliation of Mercy and Justice

For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past, for he was looking ahead and including them in what he would do in this present time. God did this to demonstrate his righteousness, for he himself is fair and just, and he declares sinners to be right in his sight when they believe in Jesus. (Romans 3:25-26 NLT)

Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance? (Romans 2:4 KJV)

Every breath taken by a non-believer is the mercy of God. The justice of God demands the immediate death of the sinners since the time of Adam. But we know that Adam lived to 930 years old. How can God legally provide mercy and allow sinners to live without being unjust? When Jesus sacrificed His life for the sins of all men. God can now be justified when He allow us to live while we are yet sinners, giving us an opportunity to be saved.

Count Your Blessings

Count your blessings.

Count your obvious blessings, the good things that you get, your wishes that came true.

Count your blessings in things you did not get - the school you failed to get into, the house you failed to buy, the job you failed to get.

Count your blessings in outright bad things - the job you lost, the limb you broke, your loved one who died. Think of this, God will comfort us in our troubles so that we can comfort others. (2 Corinthians 1:4).

Wait

But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. (Isaiah 40:31 KJV)

He waited seven days for the appointed time that Samuel had set, but Samuel didn’t come to Gilgal, and the troops were deserting him. So Saul said, "Bring me the burnt offering and the fellowship offerings." Then he offered the burnt offering. (1 Samuel 13:8-9 HCSB)

The most difficult thing to do is to wait. Wait upon the Lord. It is always easy to take action. When problems come, take action. This is what action-oriented people do. This is leadership. Saul is an example. The prophet Samuel was late. His troops were gripped with fear. They were deserting. The leader has to take action. Saul decided to offer the burnt offering himself.

Saul's sin was even serious, given that he was not asked to wait indefinitely. He was asked to wait for seven days. He could have waited for the eighth day before he took action. But, no, he decided to take action before the seventh day was over.

We can run our Christian lives at two levels, level one is Pray and Wait (PW), level two is Do, then Pray (DP). DP is always easier than PW, PW is the entry level. Only when you master PW, then you can DP. While waiting, we strengthen our faith, prove God's goodness and glorify God. We get to know God better. In times of emergency, we are able to Do, then Pray, because we already have the mind of Christ, trained during our waiting days.

When we are in trouble, we want to do something, especially action-oriented self-motivated leaders. I am more lazy, prefering to wait. My weakness become my strength.

Law Demands Grace Supplies

God's law demands. Failure to meet the demand is sin. God's grace provides and is sufficient. But if we decide to meet the demands of the law ourselves, we will fall from grace.

John 1:17 ESV
For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
Romans 5:20 KJV
Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:
Galatians 5:4 NASB
You have been severed from Christ, you who are seeking to be justified by law; you have fallen from grace.
2 Corinthians 12:9 KJV
And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

This is what Arthur Walkington Pink (1 April 1886 – 15 July 1952) wrote in "Gleanings in the Godhead" in the Chapter 25 The Gospel of the Grace of God:
QUOTE
First, it is evidently something very blessed and joyous, for our text speaks of the "good news of the grace of God."
Secondly, it is the opposite of Law: Law and grace are antithetical terms: "The law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ" (John 1:17). It is significant that the word "Gospel" is never found in the Old Testament. Consider a few contrasts between them: The Law manifested what was in man—sin; grace manifests what is in God—love, mercy. The Law speaks of what man must do for God; grace tells of what Christ has done for men. The Law demanded righteousness from men; grace brings righteousness to men. The Law brought out God to men; grace brings in men to God. The Law sentenced a living man to death; grace brings a dead man to life. The Law never had a missionary; the Gospel is to be preached to every creature. The Law makes known the will of God; grace reveals the heart of God!

In the third place, grace, then, is the very opposite of justice. Justice shows no favor and knows no mercy. Grace is the reverse of this. Justice requires that everyone should receive his due; grace bestows on sinners what they are not entitled to—pure charity. Grace is "something for nothing."

Why Did God Save Us?

Why did God save us? I found a very comprehensive answer in this website:
A meditation on Ephesians 1:6,12,14 and 2:10

This question can be answered from a number of different perspectives. In Ephesians Paul teaches us that:
The initiating cause of our salvation is the will and purpose of God [1:5,9,11].
The motivating cause of our salvation is the love of God [1:4].
The necessitating cause of our salvation is our spiritual deadness and sin [2:1-5].
The enabling/facilitating cause of our salvation is the grace of God [1:6-8; 2:5-9].
The meritorious cause of our salvation is the blood of Christ [1:7].
The legal cause of our salvation is the imputed righteousness of Christ [1:4].
The effective cause of our salvation is the power of God [1:18-23].
The subjective cause of our salvation is hearing and understanding the message of Christ [1:9,13].
The instrumental cause of our salvation is faith [Ephesians 1:1,13; 2:8].
The locational cause of our salvation is union/identification with Jesus Christ [1:3,4,7,11; 2:5-6].
The resultative cause of our salvation is the praise and glory of God [1:6,12,14; 2:10].

Oxygen Sustains Lives and Cause Decay

1 Peter 1:3-5 KJV
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

We have the hope of an inheritance reserved by God. We have this hope because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Our inheritance can never perish, is undefiled, and will not fade away. Things in the world fade away, because the oxygen that let us live also oxidize our things and cause them to decay.

God's Seven Eleven Convenience Store

The Bible has a Seven Eleven Convenience Store, and it is free. Just ask, and it is given to you.

Matthew 7:7-11 KJV
Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

Points to Note When Preaching

All messages should contain the following points:
1. It must glorify God;
2. It must point to the Gospel of Jesus Christ;
3. It must meet the needs of the listeners.
Basis of point 1:
1 Corinthians 10:31 KJV
Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
Basis of point 2:
2 Timothy 4:2 KJV
Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.
Basis of point 3:
Philippians 4:19 KJV
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Sometimes, it is difficult to know what your listeners's needs (point 3). This is where all preachers must heed the Holy Spirit's prompting. But if you can do the first two points, you meet two-thirds of the aims.

Honourable Men Charged with Underaged Sex

Sin must be fought first at thought level. When you read some of the Puritan writings about their abhorrence of sin, you may think that they were mass murderers who committed heinous sins, but their conducts were that of Godly men. They are actually fighting their sins at thought level. When you do not do that, sin will become action. And it will be done when you think you can do it in a cloak of anonymity.

Today, the Straits Times reported that a total of 48 men were charged with sex with an underaged prostitute. These men are all honourable men, principal, teachers, senior civil servants, senior bankers and men with good family background. They did what they thought was secret and secure transaction, but their sins found them out (Numbers 32:23).

For there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; neither hid, that shall not be known. Luke 12:2 (ESV)

Would I do what they did if I were as successful as they and given the same opportunity? I may, or I should say, I will. That is why you can see that God is very merciful to me.

Christian 因果

We love, because He first loved us. (1 John 4:19 NASB)

Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. (Colossians 3:13 NIV)

Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give. (Matthew 10:8 KJV)

Christianity is Not Founded by One Person

Paul, a slave of Christ Jesus, called as an apostle and singled out for God’s good news - which He promised long ago through His prophets in the Holy Scriptures - concerning His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, who was a descendant of David according to the flesh and who has been declared to be the powerful Son of God by the resurrection from the dead according to the Spirit of holiness. (Romans 1:1-4 HCSB)

Christianity is not founded by one person. The message is promised long ago in the Old Testament. The so-called founder of Christianity, Jesus, born of a virgin, died, resurrected, ascended to heaven and promised to return. The foundation and spreading of Christianity was done mostly by Paul the Apostle. Humanly speaking, Paul did most of the grunt work.

Other religions are founded by one person. The founders died, even when they claimed to achieve some special state.

Faith Glorifies God

And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him. (Hebrews 11:6 NASB)

So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. (1 Corinthians 10:31 ESV)

Jesus said to him, "Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." (John 20:29 ESV)

When we have faith in God, it glorifies Him, and therefore it pleases Him.

Observable Facts That All Agrees

Effects (果)
Observable facts that all agrees:
Environment
1. Everything decays;
2. All living things die.
Men
1. No one is perfect;
2. All men suffer and die.

Cause (因)
But why is this happening? This is where the major disagreements are:
Why is our environment dying and decaying?
Why are men imperfect, suffering and dying?
Here are two explanations, one from the Bible and the other from Buddha.
Bible's explanation:
Imperfection environment and men are caused by sin. Sin is caused by man's disobedience.
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: (Romans 5:12 KJV)
Buddha's explanation:
Imperfection in environment is accepted as it is, i.e. it is natural to have decay and death.
Imperfection in men is caused by desire and ignorance.

Salvation
Bible's solution:
Salvation provided by God through the death of His Son who died for our sins.
Buddha's solution:
Self-effort through the eight-fold path.

Final Destination
Bible:
Heaven or Hell
Buddhism:
Nirvana

Effect
Christianity
Men are saved by God's effort. There is nothing to boast. Humility is needed. Men must acknowlege his sinfulness and incapability.
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. (Ephesians 2:8 KJV)
Buddhism
Self effort. Salvation is deserved, a right, an entitlement. No Buddhist framed their salvation as a form of pride. However, when they argued with Christians, this pride is revealed.

Life Verses

Last year, Rev Yong was sharing about his life verses on a Wednesday prayer meeting. His life verses are these:
One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple. (Psalm 27:4 KJV)
He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? (Romans 8:32 KJV)

I thought about it and wondered if I have any "life verses". I think over and come up with this four verses, which was with always me for a long time.

Before I was a Christian, I saw this verse outside a church and I disagree with it vehemently.
And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. (Acts 16:31 KJV)

God spoke to me through the Bible in my first visit to JSM Penang in 1979.
And seekest thou great things for thyself? seek them not: for, behold, I will bring evil upon all flesh, saith the LORD: but thy life will I give unto thee for a prey in all places whither thou goest. (Jeremiah 45:5 KJV)

My pastor, who was known as brother Tuck Keong to me then, droned this verse into my head in his many one hour telephone preachings to me whenever I skipped church.
But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. (Matthew 6:33 KJV)

I added this today.
Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. (1 Corinthians 10:31 KJV)

Nobody is Perfect

Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect. (Matthew 5:48 KJV)

Nobody is perfect. But God wants us to be perfect. So nobody is perfect become the wonderful excuse. Nobody asked how they can become perfect. Nobody wanted to be perfect. They just want this perfect excuse - "Nobody is perfect" - so that they can continue to be imperfect, continue in their sins. Unlike the Philippian jailer, who asked Paul the Apostle, "Sirs, what must I do to be saved? (Acts 16:30 KJV)"

Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you: (Matthew 7:7 KJV)

Nobody asked, so the answer was never given. The Philippian jailer asked, and he got the answer. "Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. (Acts 16:31 KJV)"

Nobody is perfect. This is not a license to sin, but a call to repentance.

Religions Become More Sensitive

Catholics protested against CHIJMES publicity materials for a Easter weekend "Escape Chapel Party" which showed girls dressed in nun's habits and mini-skirts with thighs exposed. Organised by Creative Insurgence, the Singapore arm of a British events company, it was to be held on Saturday 7 April. After the protest, the event was cancelled.

Taoists protested againts the use Taoist robe worn by a model in fashion catwalk organized by the Floral Designers Society of Singapore at Furama RiverFront Hotel on 30 March. They said that the red robe is a sacred ceremonial robe can only be worn by ordained Taoist priests when they conduct religious ceremonies and important rituals.

The Maintenance of Religious Harmony Act is now making religions more sensitive, assertive and intolerant. In the past, they could do nothing. Now they can charge you under the Maintenance of Religious Harmony Act. Even Buddhists and Taoists get into the act. They used to be the "Eastern or Asian" culture type, suffering in silence, feeling inferior because their practices are viewed as superstitions.

Should Christians in Singapore resort to this Act to defend our God?

In Judges 6:25-32, God asked Gideon to tear down the altar of Baal that belongs to your father and cut down the Asherah pole beside it. When the men of the city found that Gideon had torn down Baal's altar and cut the Asherah pole beside it, they went to Joash, his father and ask him to put Gideon to death.

But Joash said to all who stood against him, "Would you plead Baal’s case for him? Would you save him? Whoever pleads his case will be put to death by morning! If he is a god, let him plead his own case because someone tore down his altar." (Judges 6:31 HCSB)

Is our God like the idol Baal, who need men to plead His case for Him? No. God will plead His own case. We do not need to appeal to this Act to defend our God.

Just Believe

In the book "Seven Habits of Highly Effective People" by Stephen F. Covey, seven habits were listed for people to follow so that they can be effective. Many religions are the same. They have procedures and instructions to follow. Buddhism has eight-fold path. Islam have five pillars, daily prayers, dietary restrictions and compulsory fasts.

But Christianity is not the same. God does not only talks and gives instructions. He sent His Son Jesus Christ died for our sins. He sent His Holy Spirit to guide us when we accept Christ as our Saviour. Our job is to believe. It sounds simple but it can be very difficult.

Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. (Acts 16:31 KJV)

Giving Thanks - Antidote to the Amoral God

That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. (Matthew 5:45 KJV)

We cannot feel that God is real, because His actions are so amoral. We said, "The LORD will not do good or evil. (Zephaniah 1:12)" We see the wicked prospering (Psalm 73:4-12) and the good suffering. We feel that we are doing good in vain (Psalm 73:13-14). So how can we see God in this world?

In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. (1 Thessalonians 5:18 KJV)

Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. (Psalm 100:4 KJV)

Look for the blessing of the Lord in everything. Count our blessings, name them one by one and we will be surprised to see what the Lord had done for us.

Next, examine yourselves in the light of the Ten Commandments and the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5,6,7), especially the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:3-12). Use Matthew 5:21-28 to derive the principle of motivation for the Ten Commandments. You will see that you are really a wicked sinner far from the will of God.

God Does Not Help Those Who Help Themselves

God helps those who help themselves. This is a lie of Satan. God does not help those who help themselves. God only help those who realize that they cannot help themselves. "Man's extremity is God's opportunity," so said the puritan writer John Flavel (1627–1691).

God is the ultimate face lover. If you do anything, you must give God face.
Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. (1 Corinthians 10:31 KJV)

If you think you can help yourself, and God is just the extra, and not the main star, then you are sorely mistaken. God will not help you if you would not make Him the star. If you are also someone who is very concern about your own face, you will be in very serious trouble with God, because ultimately, God will not give anyone any face. And He made it very clear in the Bible, repeated three times over.
I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear. (Isaiah 45:23 KJV)
For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. (Romans 14:11 KJV)
That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; (Philippians 2:10 KJV)

God is the only being who can combine pride and humility.
Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others. Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men: And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name: That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth; And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. (Philippians 2:3-11 KJV)

Who can be more humble and meek than our Lord Jesus Christ, who come in the form of man to die for our sins on the cross? Who can be prouder than Jesus, before whom every knee shall bow and every tongue confess?

The Resurrection of Christ

Today we commemorate a unique event in history - the resurrection of Christ. All men are born. Some grew up to preach and start a religion. Then they died.

Only Jesus was born of a virgin, died on the cross and was resurrected on the third day. The resurrection of Christ is the proof of His divinity. The others just talked, they claimed that they are somebody special, but they have no proof. Sai Baba died on last Easter (24th April 2011). The death of Buddha was recorded in the Mahaparinibbana Sutta. Both of them are still dead. Buddhist claimed that Buddha attained nirvana, but it remains unproved and unprovable. Well, you may argue, religions are faith-based. Christianity is also faith-based. But certain things in Christianity are provable, so that you may believe those that cannot be proved.

Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also you received and in which you stand, by which also you are saved, if you hold fast that word which I preached to you--unless you believed in vain. For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures, and that He was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve. After that He was seen by over five hundred brethren at once, of whom the greater part remain to the present, but some have fallen asleep. After that He was seen by James, then by all the apostles. Then last of all He was seen by me also, as by one born out of due time. For I am the least of the apostles, who am not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God. But by the grace of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all, yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me. Therefore, whether it was I or they, so we preach and so you believed. (1 Corinthians 15:1-11 KJV)

Hephzibah Fellowship

Accept anyone who is weak in faith, but don’t argue about doubtful issues. One person believes he may eat anything, but one who is weak eats only vegetables. One who eats must not look down on one who does not eat, and one who does not eat must not criticize one who does, because God has accepted him. Who are you to criticize another’s household slave? Before his own Lord he stands or falls. And he will stand. For the Lord is able to make him stand. (Romans 14:1-4 HCSB)

Today Straits Times ran an article about the "New Orthodox". In the article, it describe Dr Augustine H H Tan's church, Hephzibah Fellowship, worship on Sabbath, eat kosher food and observe the Levitical feasts.

Actually I have no objection to such practises as long as it does not add to the Gospel of Christ and does not contradicts the Epistles to Galatians and Hebrews. However, if any love these so much that they decide to revert to Judaism, then they are in danger of idolatory. They love Israel more than the God of Israel.

Computer Games

Everyone who competes in the games exercises self-control in all things. They then do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable. (1 Corinthians 9:25 NASB)

We all play computer games.

Computer games are played at three levels. The eternity level, which is the level of ultimate truth. The real world level, the reality that God created. The virtual world level, the reality that men created.

We always thought that computer games are played at the virtual world level in our PC or smart phones. I played Sid Meyer's Civilization. I won. I conquered my world. I switched off my computer and I am no longer a world conqueror.

Computer games are also played at our real world level. Alexander played the game Civilization. He won. He conquered his world. When Alexander was switched off from the real world level, he found that he had not won anything that could last in the eternity level. He lost.

Everyone Loves Sin

Horrid Henry is the main character in a children book series. He is horrid and the children loves him and can identify with him. Actually Horrid Henry behaves as what he is, a sinner. His younger brother Perfect Peter is also a less than perfect sinner, but obeys his parents in most things and gains their trust, thus he is a good boy. He represents the typical "good" person in the world. Parents, like all authorities, love Perfect Peter and dislike Horrid Henry. However, when they read books for entertainment, they love Horrid Henry.

Superman was the perfect superhero. However, as time passes, stories about perfect being became boring. So the producers made Superman slightly bad so that the stories is more attractive.

Many people wanted to go heaven, but is afraid that it may be boring. After all, everything is so perfect and good, where then is the fun? Are we going to sit in the cloud and play the harp praising God for eternity? That sounds boring.

We all love sin. It is exciting and entertaining. Imperfection is so fun. Look at all the stories and television series. Would they be exciting if there is no sin? We love sin, except when our own children is like Horrid Henry, or when our families is breaking up like those in the soap operas. But if it is other people's children or other people's family, it is okay. It is gossip fodder. We love it.

Faith - Definition

Faith has arises out of hope.
Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see. (Hebrews 11:1 NIV)

Faith will cause action.
But someone will say, "You have faith and I have works." Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. (James 2:18 ESV)

Faith must have an object.
And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house. (Acts 16:31 KJV)

Boasting

Boasting Excluded
Then what becomes of our boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? By a law of works? No, but by the law of faith. (Romans 3:27 ESV)

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV)

Boasting Allowed
Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD. (Jeremiah 9:23-24 KJV)

But God forbid that I should glory, save in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world is crucified unto me, and I unto the world. (Galatians 6:14 KJV)

Therefore, as it is written: "Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord." (1 Corinthians 1:31 NIV)

But, "Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord." (2 Corinthians 10:17 NIV)

Boasting Forbidden
Each one should test his own actions. Then he can take pride in himself, without comparing himself to somebody else, (Galatians 6:4 NIV)

For even the circumcised don’t keep the law themselves; however, they want you to be circumcised in order to boast about your flesh. (Galatians 6:13 HCSB)

Google

I realize that when I need information, I use google to search the web. Google is becoming like a god which I go to when I need information.

Hell

Once I had a Christian friend who told me that if his family refuse to believe in Christ, he would rather go to hell with them. But hell is a place where the blessings of God is completely absent and the wrath of God is fully present.
So if a person thinks that he and his family can stick through hell with love and solidarity, something like what some families do on earth when they go through tough times, he is very sadly and badly mistaken.
There will be no holiness, no truth and no love in hell. Everything will be negative. The person who is in hell because of his family will hate them with the greatest hatred imaginable because they caused him to be there. The family will also hate him equally for not proclaiming the good news with more determination.
