Suffering

Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, in this way death spread to all men, because all sinned. (Romans 5:12 HCSB)

Fact: there are sufferings and injustice in the world.

Many people seek answers to this fact. Some blamed God, others leave Him out of the solution and came up with their own. Many use this fact to prove that God does not exist.

The Bible tells us that suffering is caused by men's disobedience (Genesis 3:1-24) and His apparent indifference and inaction is His mercy (2 Peter 3:9).

About 2500 years ago, Buddha concluded that sufferings are caused by desire (the four noble truths 四諦). He left God out of the equation and proposed his own solution (the eight-fold path 八正道).

Like the half-full or half-empty glass, we can look at the sufferings in the world today in either way:
1. Thanks be to God that the sufferings are kept at this level. It could be worse (like hell).
2. God either does not exist or is incompetent, to allow this level of sufferings in the world.

That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. (Matthew 5:45 KJV)
