How Do We Know The Bible Is True?

How do we know that the Bible is the true? Pastor Yeow Koon Tin, former senior pastor of Pasir Panjang Christ Church, gave four reasons:

1. The Bible is the only 2000 year old book today that is readily available;
2. The Bible is the only book that is translated into more than 1200 languages and is still being translated;
3. The Bible is the all time best seller;
4. The Bible is the only book tell us the beginning (where we came from), the present (we are now) and the future (where we will be).

Global Warming Will Go Away

I make known the end from the beginning, from ancient times, what is still to come. I say, 'My purpose will stand, and I will do all that I please.' (Isaiah 46:10 NIV)

The Bible is a book that recorded about 7000 years of human activities, giving us an account of the beginning and foretelling how everything will end. Around 6000 years had passed and another 1000 years (Revelation 20:1-4) are coming.

During that 1000 years, the condition of the Garden of Eden will be restored. Men will live out their full lifespan and any one who dies before 100 years old is considered accursed (Isaiah 65:20). The wolf and the lamb will feed together. The lion will eat grass like a cow. Snakes will no longer be poisonous and dust shall be its food (Isaiah 11:6-9, Isaiah 65:25).

16-year-old Greta Thunberg is so worried about global warming because she does not believe in the Bible. But global warming will come, together with many bad things (wars, famine, pollution, water become undrinkable, earthquakes, meteorites) and will last for a short while. Then it will go away to make way for the glorious millennial reign of Christ.

Short note on vegetarian diet
I have a friend who always recommend the vegetarian diet. But I said I will be a vegetarian when lions eat grass like the cow. He thought I am trying to put an impossible condition so that I will never become a vegetarian. He does not know the Bible.

Global Warming Will Happen

The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and the sun was allowed to scorch people with fire. They were seared by the intense heat and they cursed the name of God, who had control over these plagues, but they refused to repent and glorify him. (Revelation 16:8-9 NIV)

16-year-old Greta Thunberg made an emotional speech to the United Nations on Monday (2019-09-23) as she chided world leaders for having "stolen my dreams and my childhood" with their inaction on climate change.

But even everyone in the world heeded her plea and start to do everything they can to prevent global warming immediately, global warming will still come. It is the sun, not the people on earth, that will ultimately have a profound impact on earth's climate.

Love - Bible vs Koran

Who does Allah love?

Allah is merciful
According to Surah 39:53, Allah also give life long opportunity for sinners to repent. He is merciful. But mercy is injustice. But Allah does not give too much thought about that, unlike the God of the Bible, who has to be just and made effort to reconcile justice and mercy.

Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful." (39:53 Sahih International version)

Loving God
Jesus said if you love God, keep His commandments.
If ye love me, keep my commandments. (John 14:15 KJV)

According to Surah 3:31, if you love Allah, you must follow Mohammed, then Allah will love you.

Say, (O Muhammad, to mankind): If ye love Allah, follow me; Allah will love you and forgive you your sins. Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. (3:31 Pickthall version)

Ultimate difference
The ultimate difference between the God of the Bible and Allah is that God demonstrates His love for us by action, but Allah just speaks about love.

Evolution thrives in ignorance. As knowledge increases, evolution become more and more improbable. From this link, I realized that many of these information were actually discovered quite some time ago. They are not new. Even the ancient cell theory proves that abiogenesis is not possible. Life can only come from life. Anyway, as science progress, knowledge increase and we are closer and closer to prove that Genesis creation account is the real scientific truth. Anything that is true can be proven to be true.

Purpose Of Works

For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works, lest any man should boast. (Ephesians 2:8-9 KJV)
So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law, because by the works of the law no one will be justified. (Galatians 2:16b NIV)

If good works is not required for salvation, why do good? Why don't we continue sinning (Romans 6:1) since Jesus had already paid the penalty for our sins in full (Hebrews 10:14)?

Firstly, we do good works, not because we need them for our salvation, but we do it out of gratitude to our God who has so freely given everything to us (1 John 4:19, Ephesians 4:32, Colossians 3:12-13, Matthew 10:8). Our motivation is gratitude, not servitude.

Secondly, our works is an assurance of salvation to ourselves, showing that we are bearing fruits (Matthew 7:16, John 15:4).

Finally, our works is a witness to others of God's grace and salvation. As salt and light, God works through us to preserve and show His righteousness and to change the society. Our works glorify God.

God works through us. The only real work that God requires from us is to believe in Him (John 6:29).

Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure. (Philippians 2:12-13 ESV)

Only Jesus Can Save There Is None Else
