年年有餘

過年一定會煮一道魚,希望年年有餘。The Chinese always wants to have more than enough. Singapore Government kept billions of dollars in reserve. But when God offered manna to the Israelites in the wilderness, He offered just enough for them on a daily basis. For the sixth day, they were offered twice as much, so that they can rest on the Sabbath. Some of the Israelites were kiasu like Singaporeans and they kept some of the manna for the next day, fearing that the supply would stop. But the manna bred worms and smelled (Exodus 16:20). Many people stored a lot for their retirement and said to themselves, "Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years (Luke 12:19)" but Lehman Brothers took them all away. So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God (Luke 12:21). Let us not put our faith in uncertain riches (1 Timothy 6:17) but trust that the Lord will supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philppians 4:19).
