The Blood on the Lintel and Doorposts

You shall take a bunch of hyssop and dip it in the blood which is in the basin, and apply some of the blood that is in the basin to the lintel and the two doorposts; and none of you shall go outside the door of his house until morning. For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when He sees the blood on the lintel and on the two doorposts, the LORD will pass over the door and will not allow the destroyer to come in to your houses to smite you (Exodus 12:22-23 NASB).

Every first born in the land of Egypt shall die. How could any first born be saved? There must be the blood of the lamb on the lintel and door posts. When God sees the blood, He will pass over the house. Any first born in Egypt at that time who believed and do exactly the same shall be saved. It does not matter if he is a Hebrew or an Egyptian. Any house without the blood, the first born shall be slain. It does not matter if he is a Hebrew or an Egyptian. This salvation is also available to the Pharaoh, but he did not believe.
