Three times a year all your males shall appear before the LORD your God at the place that he will choose: at the Feast of Unleavened Bread, at the Feast of Weeks, and at the Feast of Booths. They shall not appear before the LORD empty-handed. (Deuteronomy 16:16 ESV)
God does not desire sacrifice.
For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering. The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise. (Psalm 51:16-17 KJV)
Some thought that God need sacrifice and would be happy to have lots of it.
To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats. (Isaiah 1:11 KJV)
The message of Moses:
Redemption (Exodus 12)
Law (Exodus 20)
Sacrifice (Exodus 25 - Leviticus 27)
QUOTE
Every religion has its outward forms and it is easy for people to confuse the outward forms for the reality for what it represents. For e.g. in the Christian faith, water baptism is but a reflection of the Spirit baptism that every Christian receives when he embraced the faith. And Spirit baptism is essentially the regeneration of a Christian. Hence to be baptized in water without experiencing true conversion is of no value at all. Water baptism is just the outward form no better than taking a bath, but regeneration is the inward reality experienced by the believer and the reality is that of becoming a new creature in Christ.
