"Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am He, you will die in your sins." (John 8:24 NASB)
In the Bible, life and death is all about belief, not performance. You are saved by who you believe, not by what you do. This corresponds to events in the world. If you refuse to believe the truth, evil will befall on you.
