A Panoramic View of the Bible And What We Can Learn From It

The whole Bible can be summarized with four words - creation, fall, redemption, restoration.
The Bible described creation in two chapters (Genesis 1:1 - 2:25).
The Bible described the fall in one chapter (Genesis 3:1 - 3:24).
The Bible described the restoration in one and a half chapters (Revelation 21:1-22:5).
The bulk of the Bible is about redemption.

How does this overview of the Bible help us understand the present world we are in?
  1. We can conclude that we are living in the redemptive stage of the Bible;
  2. We know why time is linear because it is moving in one direction toward restoration;
  3. We know the origin of evil;
  4. We know God's redemptive plan;
  5. We understand God's apparent inaction against evil now because He has already planned its elimination;
  6. We know how it will all end.
Creation
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. (Genesis 1:1 NASB, NLT, NIV)

Fall
Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, in this way death spread to all men, because all sinned. (Romans 5:12 HCSB)

Redemption
For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. (Romans 5:6 ESV)
For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God. (2 Corinthians 5:21 ESV)

Restoration
Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. (Revelation 21:1 ESV)
