And this whole land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years (Jeremiah 25:11 KJV).
God was very merciful to Israel. For the first exile, God gave Israel a specific timing so that Israel did not have to live with uncertainty about the length of the punishment. When the prophecy came true, it also glorified God, revealing Him as the true and living God.
