Christ Came To Save Sinners

I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance. (Luke 5:32 KJV)

Jesus said, "No one is good except God alone. (Mark 10:18 ESV)" The Bible also declares that "There is certainly no righteous man on the earth who does good and never sins. (Ecclesiastes 7:20 HCSB)" and that "the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23 ESV, NASB, KJV, NIV, NLT, HCSB)" Since all men die, therefore, all have sinned. All have broken the Law of God.

The Law cannot save. The Law is for keeping. When you break the Law, you are a sinner. The Law cannot stop you from sinning. But when you break the Law, the Law will tell you that you are a sinner and you have to pay the penalty. For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles in one point, he has become guilty of all. (James 2:10 NASB)

So how can a sinner be made righteous? If someone pays the penalty on the sinner's behalf. For Christ also suffered once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit, (1 Peter 3:18 ESV) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. (John 3:16 KJV)
