A Panoramic View of the Bible And What We Can Learn From It - 7

The whole Bible can be summarized with four words - creation, fall, redemption, restoration.
The Bible described creation in two chapters (Genesis 1:1 - 2:25).
The Bible described the fall in one chapter (Genesis 3:1 - 3:24).
The Bible described the restoration in one and a half chapters (Revelation 21:1-22:5).
The bulk of the Bible is about redemption.

What does the bulk of the Bible tell us about the God's salvation plan and redemption?
  1. Only God can save;
  2. God has already prepared for our redemption from sin before creation;
  3. This plan of salvation is revealed progressively;
  4. Salvation is freely available to all;
  5. Salvation is effectively by the grace of God;
  6. Our only work is to believe;
  7. While the big overview of the Bible is creation, fall, redemption, restoration, our personal life's overview is justification, sanctification, glorification.
The LORD God made garments of skin for Adam and his wife and clothed them. (Genesis 3:21 NIV)

Salvation belongs to the LORD; your blessing be on your people! Selah (Psalm 3:8 ESV)

But now apart from the law the righteousness of God has been made known, to which the Law and the Prophets testify. This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood - to be received by faith. He did this to demonstrate his righteousness, because in his forbearance he had left the sins committed beforehand unpunished - he did it to demonstrate his righteousness at the present time, so as to be just and the one who justifies those who have faith in Jesus. (Romans 3:21-26 NIV)

How then will they call on him in whom they have not believed? And how are they to believe in him of whom they have never heard? And how are they to hear without someone preaching? (Romans 10:14 ESV)

So then they said to him, "What must we do to accomplish the deeds God requires?"
Jesus replied, "This is the deed God requires - to believe in the one whom he sent." (John 6:28-29 NET)
